Enneagram Clinical Integration Cohort for Therapists and Coaches

An 8-Month Professional Learning Experience

Insight Does Not Automatically Create Change

Many clients understand their patterns,  and still repeat them….

✓They can name their Enneagram type.
✓ They recognize their reactions.
✓ They see the relational dynamics.
And yet the same concerns continue organizing their decisions, relationships, and attention…but why?

Because personality patterns are not simply habits. They are stories the nervous system learned to live inside.

Stories about safety. Stories about belonging. Stories about what must happen–or must be avoided–in order to stay connected. Understanding those stories is where meaningful change begins.

The Enneagram: Narrative Therapy in Action

At its core, the Enneagram is not simply a personality model. It is a map of the narrative structures that shape attention, identity, and adaptation.

Each type reflects a pattern of questions the person is trying to answer:

  • What do I have to be in order to belong?

  • What must I avoid in order to stay safe?

  • What feels most threatening or most important?

In this sense, the Enneagram operates much like narrative therapy: It reveals the storyline organizing a person’s experience.

When clinicians learn to listen for those storylines, patterns become easier to understand and easier to soften.

The Enneagram: IFS in the Room

Narrative Therapy helps us hear the storyline. Internal Family Systems helps us meet the parts living inside it.

Each Enneagram type maps onto a familiar internal cast — the managers who keep things safe, the firefighters who step in when things get too loud, and the exiles they're both protecting.

Learning to recognize a client's type-specific protector patterns gives you a faster, gentler way into parts work — and a clearer path back to Self.

A Cohort for Practitioners Who Want to Go Deeper

The Practice: Enneagram Clinical Integration Cohort is designed for therapists, coaches, and practitioners who want to move beyond personality descriptions and into real clinical application.

This is not a typing workshop. This is a consultation-based learning space focused on applying the Enneagram to real client work.

Together we will explore how to:

• Recognize attention patterns in session
• Identify the emotional concerns shaping client behavior
• Understand the adaptive strategies behind personality structures
• Listen for narrative themes that maintain patterns
• Work with resistance, shame, and defensive strategies
• Use the Enneagram ethically and thoughtfully in practice

Who This Cohort IS Designed For:

• Students, current grad students, & future therapists
• Licensed therapists and associates
• Coaches integrating the Enneagram into client work
• Practitioners interested in attention-based personality frameworks
• Professionals seeking deeper Enneagram-informed case formulation

Participants should have:

• Basic familiarity with the Enneagram
• Interest in applying the Enneagram within therapeutic conversations

What We Will Explore Together

Over eight months, we will examine how Enneagram patterns show up in real clinical work.

Month 1: Orientation & Enneagram Foundations The history and lineage of the Enneagram, and how to use it ethically as a clinical map, not a personality quiz.

Month 2: The Three Centers and Nine Types as Strategies Gut, heart, and head, and each type reframed as a coping strategy rather than a fixed identity.

Month 3: Instinctual Biases & Subtypes How self-preservation, social, and sexual instincts reshape the same type into 27 distinct presentations.

Month 4: The Typing Process Multiple valid approaches to clinical typing, common mistyping traps, and a structured, motivational-interviewing-informed typing interview.

Month 5: The Enneagram as an Integration Model Levels of health, the arrows of integration and disintegration, and how to turn that map into real treatment planning.

Month 6: Weaving in Narrative Therapy Externalization, re-authoring, and unique outcomes, applied directly to type-based fixation.

Month 7: Weaving in IFS Self, managers, firefighters, and exiles, mapped onto type-specific protector patterns.

Month 8: Integration & Practice Building Synthesizing Enneagram, Narrative Therapy, and IFS into one cohesive case formulation, and a personal plan to carry it forward.

What You'll Be Able To Do

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the historical origins, theoretical foundations, and clinically grounded (versus pop-psychology) applications of the Enneagram system.

  2. Apply a structured, motivational-interviewing-informed typing process to identify a client's Enneagram type, center of intelligence, and instinctual bias.

  3. Analyze a client's levels of health and likely arrows of integration and disintegration to inform type-specific treatment planning.

  4. Integrate Enneagram-informed case formulation with Narrative Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) in clinical practice.

  5. Evaluate ethical and practical considerations for incorporating Enneagram-informed case formulation into an active clinical caseload.

How The Cohort Works

Two (2) live sessions each month.

Each month includes two live sessions held virtually via Zoom:

Teaching Session (90 minutes) — Structured clinical content: Enneagram-informed case formulation, pattern recognition in clinical dialogue, and attention and emotional-concern tracking. Held live and recorded for later review.

Case Consultation + Q&A (60 minutes) — Confidential and unrecorded. Each session opens with a short, type-informed mindfulness practice tailored to that month's material, to help the group settle before turning to peer case work. Bring real client material, clinical questions, and integration challenges for peer consultation.

What You Will Gain

This cohort is designed to change how you listen and what you do with what you hear.

By the end of eight months together, you will have developed:

  • Confidence using the Enneagram clinically: Not just knowing the types, but knowing how to work with them. You'll leave with a framework you can reach for in session, with language that fits naturally into your existing clinical voice.

  • Enneagram-informed case formulation: You'll be able to identify the core concerns, attention patterns, and adaptive strategies organizing your clients' experiences and use that understanding to inform your treatment approach from the very first session.

  • Stronger pattern recognition: You'll start hearing what's underneath what clients say. The defensive moves. The emotional concerns. The storylines that keep pulling them back. Pattern recognition becomes instinctive—not something you have to work to find.

  • A richer therapeutic relationship: When clients feel genuinely understood at the level of how they're wired—not just what they've done or felt—the therapeutic alliance deepens. You'll have new tools for meeting clients exactly where they are.

  • A peer community of practice: You won't be doing this work alone. You'll leave with a cohort of colleagues who share your curiosity, challenge your thinking, and understand the particular complexity of Enneagram-informed clinical work.
